The Weekend Library Assistant will provide excellent customer service and will operate the library on Saturday.
This individual will work under the supervision of the Circulation Manager.
The ability to work independently is a must.
In addition, the person in this role may be asked to fill in at other times during the week if available to do so.
The Library assistant may perform some or all of the following duties:
Acts as supervisor on Saturdays and will open and close the library.
Manages the circulation desk during weekends, empties book drop and shelves materials.
Manages room booking system, ensuring proper procedures for weekends.
Assists patrons with reserves and new applications, retrieves patron requests from shelves.
Oversee work of weekend volunteers.
Provides patron assistance with computers, printer and general device tech support.
Assists patrons with using the integrated library system catalog.
Will regularly check on accuracy of patron accounts.
Resolve customer service issues with patrons.
Will acquire working knowledge of regulations and procedures pertaining to library responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.
NOTE:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read to take direction.
Knowledge of basic office procedures.
Demonstrated working knowledge of library principles and practices.
Excellent computer skills.
Superior customer service skills.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Detail oriented and exceptional accuracy.
Ability to listen to public and respond in mature manner.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Patience and understanding.
Understanding of confidentiality in patron records.
Additional qualifications preferred but not required:
Bachelor's degree or college credit, working towards Library degree.
One (1) year experience in a library setting, experience with ILS.
Must be willing to undergo and pass background check and drug screen.
